Dennis Sherman is Professor of History at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, the City University of New York. He received his B.A. (1962) and J.D. (1965) degrees from the University of California at Berkeley and his Ph.D. (1970) from the University of Michigan . . He was Visiting Professor at the University of Paris (1978-79; 1985). He has received the Ford Foundation Prize Fellowship, the Council for Research on Economic History fellowship, and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities. His publications include A Short History of Western Civilization, 8th edition (co-author); Western Civilization: Sources, Images, and Interpretations, 5th edition; World Civilizations: Sources, Images, and Interpretations, 2nd Edition (co-author); a series of introductions in the Garland Library of War and Peace; several articles and reviews on nineteenth-century French economic and social history in American and European journals, and short stories on literary reviews.

Diffusers: in-depth discussion

This book is more concentrated on diffusers than absorbers, with extensive care on Schroeder diffusers. Also it is more concentrated on acoustical physics than the discussion on various acoustic materials.

Some peoples (like me) may find the chapter "Measurement of Absorber properties" exceptionally useful.

To illustrate my point: you cannot find the terms "anechoic chamber" in the index.

A Good Story

Dave and Clarice Johnson: married fifteen years and it takes a car accident to bring unexplored problems in their relationship to the surface. Clarice's "I can take care of myself" mentality causes more of a gap between her and Dave than was already there before the accident, and Clarice's mother, who is obviously a bitter woman holding onto past hurts, doesn't help the situation. And then there's Clarice's physical therapist, Julie. She likes Dave for who he is, and when they're together he feels appreciated. Dave, who, unlike his wife, is sure he wants children, becomes a stand-in father for Julie's son, Bryson, whose own dad is never around. A real bond forms there.

Can Clarice hold onto her man when she isn't giving him what he needs; especially when there's another woman who's willing to do just that? Will Dave decide his marriage is worth saving, or will he move on and begin a new relationship with Julie? These are the questions that came to mind as I read this novel. It turns out that God the Father, verses from Ecclesiastes, and a marriage counselor all play a part in getting this marriage back on track.

I have listened to the teachings of Bishop T.D. Jakes for quite some time now. Whether he's speaking or writing, this man of God has a way with words that can get a life-changing message straight to the heart of the listener or reader. I'm glad he has decided to include fiction among his many books. This one is as good as all of the rest!

Not Easily Broken

This was a very good read. The storyline was quite interesting and it kept me wanted to read more. I purchased a copy for myself and a copy for my best girlfriend for a Christmas gift. I finished reading it in four days. Now that's a good book. My goal was to finish it before going to see the movie on the big screen.

Awesome Book

This was a wonderful book. The main character, David, gave me hope and inspiration, though I thought his wife was a bit annoying. Though I had hoped the book would end differently, the ending was satisfying and left me pleased. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good story.

As such, it sports a host of buzzwords like "ideal performance state" (IPS), "competitive adjective profile" (CAP), and "adaptation threshold" to communicate its simple message. Toughness training aims to improve an individual's emotional flexibility, responsiveness, strength, and resiliency through imaging activities, emotional response practice, and "acting the way you want to feel." "Tough" phrases, principles, messages, and lessons are frequently set out in special type. Self-help books have an audience, and public libraries might want to consider this title by a well-known sports psychologist.

This book is a very useful tool for any aspiring athlete. Some of it is obvious and some it is quarky but altogether it is very useful. And I'm certain that if one applies these techniques you will see big gains. This book helped me understand my emotions as they relate to my sport. And it gave me ways to be a tough thinker and a actor. Everyone knows its important to try and be tough but not everyone knows how. This book has just about everything you need to know to take you game to the next level.

If your short on time skip through and just read chapters 1,7,9,11, 14 and 15. Theres 18 chapters total.

Toughness training for the mind

I have purchased at least 20 copies of this outstanding book over the last
15 years. I have given them to athletes I was training, and later to
athletes I've met along life's path. This is a wonderful resource for
anyone, actually, and not just athletes. What I found especially
encompassing is the fact that author Loehr writes knowledgeably about
our greatest competition: ourselves. He challenges us to take on
our demons and obstacles for what they are -- hindrances to our personal
success.

This is a great little book. I highly recommend it to coaches, parents
and athletes alike.

The Raccolta is a book, published from 1807 to 1950, that listed Roman Catholic prayers and other acts of piety, such as novenas, for which specific indulgences were granted by Popes. In 1968 it was replaced by the Enchiridion Indulgentiarum, listing fewer specific prayers but including new general grants that apply to a wide range of prayerful actions. The Raccolta (literally meaning "collection" in Italian) is an abbreviation of its full title: Raccolta delle orazioni e pie opere per le quali sono sono concedute dai Sommi Pontefici le SS. Indulgenze ("Collection of Prayers and Good Works for Which the Popes Have Granted Holy Indulgences"). The text was in Italian, with the prayers themselves given in Latin. The book was first published in 1807 by Telesforo Galli, in assoociation with the Sacred Congregation of Indulgences and Holy Relics, with successive editions in 1810, 1812, 1814, 1818, 1825, 1831, 1834, 1837, 1841, 1844 and 1849. Following official approval by a Decree of 15 December 1854, later editions were issued directly as publications of the Holy See by the Sacred Congregation of Indulgences and Holy Relics (which in the reform of the Roman Curia by Pope Pius X was united with the Sacred Congregation of Rites. A general revision was carried out in 1877, declaring that the revision alone was from then on authoritative. Later editions of this were produced in 1886 and 1898. Approval of the Roman Congregation was required for publishing a complete translation of the work.

This is a absolutely beautiful book. I bought it for myself but gave it to my Mom who loved it. So now I have to get another one for myself . The prayers are timeless
