A Successful and Tasteful Biography

Candace Falk, the official biographer of EG, delivers a compelling and tactful account of EG's personal life and its conflicts versus her high standards for living that she lectured on.

Falk stumbled upon EG's letters to Reitman through a friend, and took it upon herself to edit and organize the letters into a kind, yet considerably objective biography. Falk addresses inconsistencies in life, love, and lecture without forcing a bias upon the reader. Though at times waxing over-poetic to the point of absurdity (which is understandable with the subject matter and quality of personal letters between Reitman and EG), Falk's "Mission Statement" of the book was to deliver to readers a biography and examination of the letters that is tasteful without hurting EG's image, and accomplished just that.

EG's life was a struggle of fighting for social justice, while frustrated with her own tendency to get stuck in the grains of tradition and feeling inadequate and unfulfilled (as in her relationship with Reitman). Falk skillfully shares the intimate details of EG's love life and blunders with the care of an adoring daughter. This book is well worth the read even with its occasional flaw (or in this edition, the proliferation of spelling errors towards the end of the book). Overall, Falk pays just respects to the Mother of Anarchism. Highly recommended.

Best of the Best!

I collect vegan cookbooks and read them as most people read a novel, so I know what is out there. I spend a LOT of time in my kitchen trying new vegan recipes and new techniques. I judge a cookbook by making three recipes...if they are good, then I try more and keep the book seeing how the writer thinks and uses their plant based foods and tools. If they are uninteresting, the books gets taken to the second hand shop. If they are wonderful, then they are my "go to" cookbooks that I rely on time and time again. So many cookbooks are just a rehashing of the same old same old thing. Miriam Sorrell is a true artist! She has managed to include many fresh new ideas and creations so delicious as to make one's head spin! Just reading the Table of Contents made my mouth water.....so it is true to it's title. The pictures are tempting, and the directions are easy to follow. These recipes make me look like a master in my own kitchen....all by following the directions of a true Master. Doesn't get any better than this. This "go to" cookbook will fast make you look like a pro...people won't believe that Vegan dishes can taste so good! Get this book!!

Mouthwatering is 100% accurate!

On my first day of summer break from teaching middle school math,I was so excited to open my mailbox and find my Mouthwatering Vegan Cookbook. What a great way to start my break!!!! There are wonderful pictures for the dishes, which I find very helpful. The colors are beautiful and the pictures are so clear that I think I could almost smell the food. The cookbook is well organized. There is a very helpful section in the introduction called Vegan Pantry; this section contains some great information about kitchen equipment, vegan dairy, grains, meat substitutes,sweeteners, and so on. The book is arranged into the following sections: 1- Breakfast, Juices, and Smoothies,2- Appetizers & Sides, 3- Soups & Salads, 4- Pasta, Pizza & Burgers, 5-Curries, 6- Mouthwatering Mains, 7- Desserts,Cakes & Treats, and 8- Decadent Cheeses and Dairy Alternatives. The individual sections have their own table of contents. Each recipe begins with a short paragraph describing the dish and giving suggestions about what to serve with the dish. The directions are written in easy to follow steps. This is important for someone like me, who isn't the World's best cook. Most of the ingredients and spices I already have in my pantry, but a few recipes would require a trip to my local "health food" store. Where I live, the grocery stores are lacking in organic and vegan options. I love curried dishes and there are 9 to choose from. There are several recipes for making your own burgers and even one for hot dogs; these are a much healthier option than the over-processed vegan products in the stores. The desserts are sure to keep me from feeling deprived and are something everyone in the family would eat. My only problem is that there are so many wonderful recipes that I can't decide what to make for dinner.

Best Cookbook Ever. Ever.

I ordered my copy of "Mouthwatering Vegan" the other day via Kindle and haven't put it down yet. I can tell you from personal experience that the Bolognese sauce IS the "Best Ever." It is now the official sauce of choice in our house. Ninety-nine percent of the ingredients in this book are easily obtainable as well and I'm having a blast tracking down some of the ingredients with which I'm not so familiar. We have been vegetarian for 28 years and have recently made the shift to Vegan...this book makes that transition oh-so-very easy. Keep writing cookbooks, Ms. Sorrell and I'll keep buying them!

I usually don't read books like this because the tone in a lot of these types of books are pretty boring. Spectacular, however, found a way to write a book that was informative and funny at the same time. While you're reading it, you'll feel that Spectacular is a good friend of yours who is simply trying to give you great advice.

This book was so funny/entertaining and RIGHT ON about love, dating, fighting with your man/woman, communicating, getting through hard time, and loving thru good times. He tells the story about his love with his girlfriend and their child. In addition to being a famous rapper, he's a man who knows how to be everything for his woman. MEN need to read this! His advice is different from what you hear all the time because he speaks the truth! It didn't take long to read. Binged in one sitting. I laughed, got mad, had tears in my eye one or two times. I'll be smarter about love having read this!

I don't normally like to read books on relationships, I never feel like I can relate to them and I feel like the author is talking down to the reader. Spectacular's take on relationships is not only applicable to anyone, it also offers perfect solutions to issues that every in a relationship has. Definitely an amazing read
