This is a great book! They manage to put enough things in here to encourage and challenge you and yet not too much -- they wont scare you away. It dose get almost too detailed from time to time but for the most part they really have a book here that anyone new or experienced in the field can enjoy. I love it and would love to get this out to my friends and neighbors.

Nice examples of successful Green Roofs

This book is great for those who may have trouble visualizing the possibilities of what you can do with a green roof. There are many examples of what you can grow, and what types of vegetation are suitable. The book is however not very technical about the architectural detailing considerations involved. Some sections and detail drawings would make this book much more valuable as a design resource.

Nice introduction but lacks depth

While this book covers a lot of ground, it never digs in very deeply. How about some specifics on green roof components or support systems for living walls? This book doesn't provide those kinds of details. Although it has directories of plants for roofs and walls, the descriptions are very sketchy and, for most of the species, it doesn't provide hardiness zones. You'll have to be familiar with them or do additional research just to determine if they'll survive in your climate. For green roof plants, take a look at the Snodgrass book on green roof plants instead. Planting Green Roofs and Living Walls is a good introduction but you'll need to look at other books that provide more detailed case studies.

About the Author
Harvey A. Dorfmans background has been in education as a teacher, counselor, coach, and consultant. He has a Masters Degree in Communications/Psychology and is most knowledgeable about baseball and the factors necessary for success in the game. He was employed from 1984 through 1993 as the Oakland As full-time instructor/counselor and from 1994 through 1997 with the Florida Marlins. He joined the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the same capacity in 1998. In 1999 Dorfman became full-time sport psychologist for Scott Boras Corporation. He lectures extensively on sports psychology, management and leadership training, and personal development. He has, as well, been a consultant to the Vancouver Canucks and the New York Islanders of the NHL, and to a number of major universities. In addition, he has experience as a newspaper columnist and freelance journalist, writing for The New York Times, Boston Globe, and Miami Herald, among others. In 1989, his first book, The Mental Game of Baseball: A Guide to Peak Performance, co-authored with Karl Kuehl, was released. Published by Diamond Communications, Inc., this bestselling book is considered to be the classic guide to developing the mental mechanics of the game.

Must Have for All Pitchers

I have played baseball for about 17-18 years of my life (am 24). I have played college at NCAA Division II level and this was like a textbook for me. You don't have to read it like a normal book, just pick a chapter that interests you (or you need work on) and get to reading.

I picked the chapters that I felt I needed the most work on and found out ideas as to how to solve the issues I am having, or at least know how to minimize their impact on my game.

This should be on shelves of any pitchers that plan to play beyond HS.

When sorry isnt enough...

I love this book because it is simple and easy to read. It covers the basics without going into lofty flights of prose and thought. Just what you need to do, and that's it. That doesn't mean taking action is easy, but their goal is give you understanding as simply as possible.

This is not a theology book. It's a practical how-to book. You'll find some Scriptures, and it's written from a Christian worldview, but mainly Thomas and Chapman draw on their years of counselling experience. The facts of sin and repentance are already assumed; they're out to tell you how to put that knowledge to practical use. They had a lot of stories with couples, singles, young and old, family and friends, to give a wide scope of how these principles work. I found the life experience aspect a refreshing inclusion.

In some ways this book was a hard, hard read. I have an extremely tender conscience, with an extreme perfectionism streak. This makes it difficult to accept messing up, while at the same time I don't like ignoring what I've done wrong. It is difficult to go through the apology process, but the older I get, the more I want an authentic, growing relationship with Christ and with family and friends. In that sense, it was convicting.

On the other hand, some of it was incredibly healing. The author duo explain that it's not wrong to want justice, as long as you handle that desire righteously. Nor does forgiveness mean that your memory is wiped of the event. Nor should you allow people to manipulate you with poor and insincere apologies.

Nor should you implode and refuse to forgive yourself.

As for the apology languages themselves? Oftentimes the way you give an apology is your personal language. So think of the last one you gave, and what you said--any of the phrases up top ring with you? My apology language is Expressing Regret, with Accepting Responsibility being a close second. (Though in rare cases I feel pretty strongly about Making Restitution.)

I appreciated this teaching, would highly recommend it, and hope to read it again. I think I'll need some time to fully process it; but I was so blessed by When Sorry Isn't Enough, and I hope you will be too.

A Very Helpful Guide to Navigate Forgiveness

What I liked most about this book is how the author takes you deep inside the art of forgiveness to understand how to best give it to others and how to receive forgiveness from others as well. Like love languages there are languages of forgiveness, who knew!? There's even a part about the importance of forgiving yourself. He uses so many examples that it's easy to get the point. Towards the end he also explains what to do when at a crossroads where you forgive but don't yet trust someone. Excellent read! Be strategic to be effective when seeking forgiveness.

Great book, Easy read with positive results...

I have read several of his books on the 5 love languages. This book is exceptional in helping understanding the anatomy of a sincere apology as well as how to apologize or move forward if forgiveness is withheld... I think it also helps someone to vocalize a need for an apology from someone.

It is easy to read, understand and make a plan of action...

I highly recommend this book.

The FIRST Classic Lesbian Love Story with a Happy Ending!!

When I was questioning my sexuality (about being a lesbian) in the late 1980's, I was hungry for a book that would give me a positive outlook on being a lesbian. Unfortunately I didn't find or read any sexy, enlightening, and romantic lesbian novels until I stumbled upon 'Curious Wine' by Katherine Forrest. I read this book in a couple of hours and proceeded to read it at least another 50 times (this is no exaggeration.) I love this book so much, I own 4 copies. Also, in 2006 I travelled to Australia and New Zealand with a copy of this book in my luggage (I am NOT kidding!)

IN a nutshell, this book is about a groups of women (mostly acquaintances or strangers) who meet up in cabin in Lake Tahoe for a vacation. Lane Christianson, a lawyer, and Diana, a personnel manager, immediately strike up a friendship which soon develops into something more. Please be warned, this book is a bit dated (the time frame takes place in the late 1970's) but this is still one of my all time favorite books EVER! And at least to me, this book has it all - gorgeous women, fabulous and multiple lesbian love scenes, romantic intensity, and most especially A HAPPY ENDING.

Up until Curious Wine came out, lesbians (espeically good looking ones) living happily ever after was a rare thing (in fact I never read a book that had a happy ending until this one.) By the way, the book on tape of this book is also fabulous. The lady who reads it has this delicious English accent and I listened to it so much, I broke the tape!

Buy a copy of this book. You won't be disappointed (unless you hate romance.)

Timeless story of falling in love - truly wonderful characters

Tremendous is the best word that comes to mind. The depth of characters and plot was wholly satisfying. I've been reading romance novels for many years and this is a truly wonderful story with outstanding characterization. I read this for the first time this year and have read it several times since. It is a total feel good novel and deals with deep emotional issues.

At the end of the book you feel joyful. Expertly paced writing that is a delight to read.

The humor is fabulous, "do not fold spindle or mutilate" will forevermore bring this novel to mind for me (s).

Delectable love scenes - truly heart warming and loving. They advance the story perfectly and are unique and never gratuitous.

I can not say enough good things about this story or the writing - my one wish would be a short story from the author about Diana and Lane as I can not get enough of them.

Buy copies for your friends - they will thank you for it.

Very basic knowledge

Given the authors description of himself as a clinical educator and specific to cardiac surgery, I expected to see more about epicardial pacing. Where is the discussion about A pacing AF if symptomatic? Using VVI back up while bolusing rapid AF just in case the patient slows down too much? And the emergency DOO mode in the event of asystole after a valve surgery? And all cardiac nurses need to understand the difference between unipolar, bipolar and biventricular epicrdial leads. The Medtronic 5388 temporary pacemaker on the cover of the book lead me to believe the book was more cardiac surgery based.

Hopeless

This book started to upset me not at first. I was like yes, now i can see why a therapist recommended it to me. Wished i could of asked her why this book cause after reading into the book further the feeling of being depressed and hopeless started to come on. I kept trying to read on thinking it's gonna get better sadly it did not. Maybe, It is just I who felt this way but she writes to the upper class family. Leaving me where I had to put the book down and walk away feeling so insulted and in tears. In the book she mentions if we stay cut off from our roots than there is no hope it help what so ever that will be able to help a person. Well that is at least how I took her in this book. I under stood where she said we need to know our family history. An yes I can see how that can be very helpful but not all of us have that luxury there was no insight as what to do if you do not have that access to family history or connection to your family and their are very valid reasons as to why people have no or want or need no access to family anything! This book left me feeling just hopeless. The author seems to forget about all women. Her example of women in her book I could not relate to at all as a female. In the end the book made me feel completely hopeless

This book changed my life. It addressed the specific issues I was dealing with in a difficult marriage far better than the professional counseling I had tried for more than two years. But don't merely read this book. To get maximum benefit, the reader needs to make it a part of his/her being. The first time I read it, I got very little out of it. The book is easy reading, I was just in such need of what the author is trying to teach that her message was completely over my head. But I was determined to get whatever benefit the book had to offer, so I read it again. This time I got a little out of what she was trying to say. So that gave me hope, and I read it again. The third time, I began to get it. But there was still much I didn't understand, so I read it a fourth time. This time I really began to understand; and when circumstances came up at home that I had previously reacted to with anger because I hadn't known any other way to deal with them, passages from the book began coming to my mind and I would know what to say or do that were not only free of anger, but were far more problem-solving than my anger had been. My depression began to lift. Experiencing this made me want every line of the book to become an integral part of my thinking, so I read it again. And again. After six consecutive readings, I found myself beginning to deal happily and successfully with circumstances and issues that had completely frustrated and overwhelmed me in the past. I continued to read a page or two each day out of it for a year or two after that. It has transformed my marriage and other relationships and has given me a peace of mind and self-assurance I don't see how I could have achieved any other way. As I said in the beginning, don't merely read this book. Memorize it.

You can change the pattern of your relationship even if your partner does not read this book. Great lessons here!

I opted to go to counseling before getting married. I had been married before for 14 years and that marriage failed. I did not want to make the same mistake again. My now husband and I dated for 4.5 years before getting married because we wanted to spend a lot of time together to make sure we were making the right choice in order to set ourselves up for success rather than failure. My counselor asked me to read this book and I am so glad she did. The book is not the easiest or most exciting read in the world but it has tools in it that can really help people if they choose to study it. The book was especially helpful to me in teaching me how I was playing a part in the dance or circle of anger in my previous marriage and it helped me to step out of that role and discontinue that behavior. A great education for anyone, male or female, who is in a relationship with someone who often gets angry. (Luckily my current husband is not like that)

Much more than a mere biography, this volume makes a substantial and valuable contribution to our understanding of the complex and often frustrating interactions between race, civil rights, and U.S. foreign policy in the post–World War II period. this is a great introduction to the career of Young

This is a very readable biography of Andrew Young, focusing primarily on his work in foreign policy, and going through 2000. Since the focus is on foreign policy, other aspects are discussed less. In particular, there is very little written about any domestic/municipal policy work that Young did while he was the mayor of Atlanta (1981-1989), other than his work on the bid for the 1996 Olympics. Aside from that, this is a great introduction to the career of Young.

Definitely Worth Reading!

While this is a technical and fact-packed book it is still engaging and enjoyable to read. More importantly the content was thoroughly researched and thoughtfully written out. As far as reading level goes it is somewhat aimed at college classrooms and so it is dense- not really a fast, light read. Overall I feel like I learned a great deal from this book and so the effort that it took to read this book was worth it!
